Seebee

The AGS trans is not a hydro, it has a 6 speed trans with a forward and a reverse clutch pack. You need to be all the way down on the forward or reverse pedals or they over heat and blow oil out of the breather. Select the speed that you want to go with the shifter and just hold the pedal down all the way or you will burn the clutches out. As far as oil I'd use the Cub oil at least for the clutch section. Rotella T should be fine in the trans section.

Default Thanks

Thanks Sam Mac, Good to know, I did find out about the AGS through this forum awhile back. Might have been too late though as I have slipping in some of the higher gears. As the thread suggests I am changing the way I treat my machines. For many years when work was good (Electrician) I would buy something and when it broke I would buy another. Those days are now gone for me and I have to fix what I break or do without. I have started cleaning the rear end to see if I can find the leak.

Default Thank You

Thank you to all the warm welcomes, You have lit a FIRE in me. I got the 149 in the Garage and pulled the head. I need to spend some time in your archives before I go any further. I want to pull the piston and check the rings without wrecking anything. Also i need advice, this should be the start of a new thread in another forum? Best place? thanks again to all fellow Cub Cadet Owners.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
