I own an 1811 and if it weren't for the power steering I added this past winter I would have sold it by now. They are great tractors and probably the best compromise of the features most of us need but without PS it was a handful in tight spaces and around close shrubbery. I have to use the hand go lever almost constantly when I am in the bushes and trying to turn the wheel one handed without PS was a chore. I started looking like Popeye because my fore arms were getting bigger and bigger! I say go for the SGT.

One thing to look at is what will the 1811 bring. Around my part of the country it is 300-500 tops.

Pretty close to the same around here..I sold my old 1811 with a sleeve hitch, sleeve hitch blade (not IH), and a 50" mower deck (a 50A, he was going to convert it to a 50C)...all for $750. ![]() I didn't want to sell it, but wanted the category "0" hitch for the diesel more! ![]()

Thanks Folks for the comments. I enjoy the ride of the 1811. The steering seems real easy when moving. But the three turns lock to lock is rough in tight places. I used the 1811 a few times at my brother-in-laws farm to mow around the club house 2 acres and roadway 3/8 of a mile.
I'd like the larger 1872 for doing deer foodplots besides doing the mowing. I'll keep everybody posted on what shacks out. |

Will I guess the 1872 got sold. The ad was removed and can't get any return calls. I'll keep my eyes open for other projects.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
