Default First firewood saw, did I get enough?

I've just bought my first "real" chainsaw. It's an old Jonsereds 49SP (49cc) with a 16 inch bar.

Until now, my old Poulan woodshark (14", 33cc) had been the bane of my existance. It rarely failed to get the job done, but it always put up a fight. I also only used it to cut a few trees a year at most.

I want to do much of my heating with wood this coming year, and I'm hoping to fell and buck about 6 cords.

Will this moderately sized saw do the job? Will I be happy with it after a year?

Alex

I have a Husky 345 ( 45cc ) and that seems to work well for what I do. The most important thing for both life of the saw and your safety is to always have a sharp chain on it. It's easier on the saw and safer for you.

Thumbs up

A friend of mine has an old Jonsered that he bought from a guy who is an actual lumberjack up in Canada. That saw appears to be unstoppable. He keeps it clean and sharp and only uses fresh gas. We cut some large trees on my place that had died and I swear that saw went through em like they were balsa wood. It's old and looks heavy but it's like the saw from heck. You'll probably like yours

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
