1862 pto
jsoluna. Thank you so much for sending me step by step directions on checking my wiring. Here is what I found.
Black wire had 12+ volts with key switch in start & on. Had ground on grey wire at all times. Had 12+ volts on red/white wire with key switch in run position regardless of pto switch position. Did not get any voltage through brown wire with pto in any position. Took wiring off pto switch, removed pto switch and checked it out with my OHM meter. Could not get continuity between any terminals. I believe I should Should have gotten continuity between #5 #3 in run position. Any further help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a great day. Bob PS I have a second 1862 and earlier I swapped out the reverse relay and this did not fix it. |

Bob,
It's odd that you don't have voltage on the brown wire with the PTO switch in START or ON, I would assume you would have it in START but not ON based on your description of the problem, but I think we can put that aside for the moment. Let's do another voltage check: Your PTO switch connector should have 12v+ START: violet, brown, red/white ON: violet, brown If you can back probe the connector and test for voltage that would be good. If you do not have continuity in your bench testing between the terminals that correspond to these wire colors, then the switch may be faulty.

PTO for 1862
Hello all. I bought a new PTO switch and it is now operating correctly. Do not have mower deck on yet. Going to mount a modified Bumper before installing mule drive and hangers. Thanks to all that helped and a special thanks for the time Soluna spent to help me. Thanks again to all and have a great day.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
