They made metal for a while, then went to plastic. It was just like the plastic set-up, only metal. It was cast iron. I don't recommend them, they break and do real damage.

The early governor gears where metal. I don't know when Kohler made the change. The gear was cast iron.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens.
