Yes thank you I'm aware of how to test for it , But i cant seem get power anywhere beyond the solenoid. Something is very askew here.
AND AND AND , I just figured out that the schematic I was provided by a member here isn't even correct ! That the 2nd fuse I was searching for doesn't even exist !! ALL this because of a junk fuse holder that shorted out on the chassis! still the problem that no green wires are shown on any schematic. I have quite a few. I'm still convinced that this does have a factory harness! |

Are you saying that the Factory Cub Cadet Diagram I sent you is junk...??

I didn't say it was junk , just saying its NOT the correct diagram for the tractor , im sure its correct for some Cub Cadet.
I just lucked into a factory service manual this morning. and the schematic in that is different and appears to be correct less the green wires. That mind you is based on the single fuse as opposed to the diagram that shows 2 fuses. |

Mr. Minion that appears to be correct , yes thanks, that is what the Factory service manual shows.
Sam , that is the one I started with , that shows 2 fuses , there is only one for sure on this tractor. Battery is charged up , solenoid does what it is supposed to, tested it outside of the tractor , hook up battery to solenoid , no power to anywhere on the tractor but at the battery side of the solenoid. Tested PTO switch , all ok , tested ignition switch , all ok , currently no seat or brake switch , those wires are connected to simulate a switch being there. The relay located on the left lower side of the dash panel , that is the reverse relay ?? Pulling my hair out on this one ! I hate to do it but I guess I'm at start replacing parts as I go ! Thanks all |

Turn the key to start and wiggle the pto switch and see what happens.

Solenoid needs to be properly grounded..... Have you verified this? With your meter, you may read that you have 12+/- volts at either the big lug (incoming/ battery side) and the small lug (starting circuit, with all safety switches working or bypassed) but it will not work if it doesn't have good ground.

Just to be sure you do have the battery positive cable AND a small wire on the same solenoid terminal right? The smaller of the 2 is what powers everything ont the tractor after going through the ammeter and on to the ignition. My 1872 also has green wires as have a lot of others I’ve seen. For the most part I believe they are grounds and the one on the left side bolts to the outer tin to give the voltage regulator a good ground. Hope this helps. BTW I have seen an inline fuse on the small hot wire from the solenoid also and if it doesn’t have one it would be a good idea to install one.

I have two 1972,s and they both have the green wires in the harness. They are grounds for the hour meter, pto switch, headlights, and reverse relay. That open loop wire you shown in your picture needs to be grounded to the frame. Are you sure that the harness main power feed wire is connected on the battery side of the solenoid?
