My friend Chris wanted me to share some pics of him planting his sweet corn patch. He and I went and picked up his 169 earlier this year. He recently found a pull type IH planter. We don't know (yet) what model it is, but it works! It was built about the time tractors were coming out, and we don't think it was ever pulled by horse, but it could have been. It's not his of yet, guy is letting him use it. Once he gets a price, he said he'll buy it. Either way, it's still cool!!!!

Edit: Sorry guys, that's the way the pic came to me. I can see if he'll resend it..... but Chris isn't real "tech savvy", he handed me his phone and told me to send them to myself, he didn't know how. LOL! |

These planters, were the ones used, when I was a kid, still on the farm. Some, were pulled by horses, and some by tractor.

Now that really defines garden tractor right there. That thing is awesome. Did he have to adapt it to his hitch somehow, I couldn't tell by the pictures.

Great to see a cub in the field doing it's thing!! Looks like a day of fun and two cubs get the job done faster. Hope you had some seat time that day, too. Thanks for sharing your pics.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
