Default 1641 slow hydraulics

I have a new(ish) to me 1641. The hydraulics seem VERY slow. It takes 30 seconds or so to lift the deck from the 4 position to the 8 position. I guess the first question would be 'is that really slow?' Seems to me it is.

I replaced the fluid and filter and had no change in speed. Is there something else to do?

Thanks.

Jbo

Sounds slow to me if you are at wide open throttle. My 1641 will pick up the deck in a couple seconds.

I know you said the fluid and filter was changed. What brand of filter did you use and what kind of fluid?

Take a good look at the valve to make sure it is going full stroke.

I had a problem on a 782D once where the lift was slow. The lever for the front outlet was not centered and was hung up on some wires behind the dash panel. Once returned to the center position, the lift speed was normal. However, I don't know if the 1641 has front outlets of a second lever for that matter.

You could possibly have a deteriorating hose that is collapsing internally that is block flow to the lift. I'd suspect this possibility if you forward and reverse speed were okay but the lift slow. Is the lift slow in both directions?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
