Default IH Trailers
Ok guys, I've spent the greater portion of last night & this morning searching the webs, What do the trailer numbers mean, At first I only heard of # 1,2. Now I hear that their is a #5,7. Does that mean it goes from 1-7, or past that.

Is there a place that has pics of all of the different "looks" that go with each number. I know the 1 has like the regular tilt cart look to it, and that #2 has like a pickup stepside bed look to it, with the fenders, What do the others look like.

Just if yall know

Elephants, SuperDuty:

The IH Industrial division made made all kinds of trailers for itself and other IH divisions.

The numbered trailers began in Oct 1960 with the #1 for the Original Cub Cadet AFAIK.

The ones for towing behind Cub Cadets were numbered 1,2 & 4. The smaller #3 was for the Lawn Tractors and RER Cadets.

The ones for carrying Cadets, Cub Cadets & Cub Tractors and towed behind your Scout, Travelall or IH Pickup were numbered 5 & 7, which were replaced later with the 1200 and the 2000, respectively. The 1200 and the 2000 also represented the trailer's carrying capacity.

There may have been a # 6 but I'm not aware of it. I do have a illustration of a #10 trailer (AG division) as well as some others for AG and Industrial use.

I hope this summary helps some. I am going to work on getting a photo ID info packet of those related to the Cadets & Cub Cadets to Roland for the reference section.

IH also made a good assortment of Heavy Equipment as well. Bull Dozers, Off road haul trucks, and Hough Loaders had IH engines in them as well as Gallion Road Graders. IH even made a special engine just for Fire Trucks, the 549FT. It had 2 distributors, coils, and 16 spark plugs. It was a real Powerhouse, if you afford the gasoline to run it. MPG was about 1.5 to 2!!!

bvanzalen: The #2's, while not considered rare, are definitely scarce. I would try to get if I could. Having said that, it's just my personal opinion that his asking price is about twice what it should be considering the condition. Completely restored - yeah, perhaps... but as is Unh unh... Remember that's just my opinion.
