Default Hydro input shaft seal leak

Looking for some info on how to replace the hydro input shaft seal. thanks

Well, you have to remove the drive shaft. Next remove the Coupler on the Hydro input shaft. You now can see the shaft seal. You can use several methods, but the seal can be pulled out. Now a new seal can be installed, and then reverse your steps.

If you don't have something the correct size to drive in the new seal, I can make a driver for you.

I'm doing one right now and took some pics. First you need to make a hole in the seal, I use a sharp pick and tap it in with a hammer. Once the hole is made thread in a screw and put vise grips on it, then you can tap on the vise grips with a hammer and the seal will come right out. I drove the new seal in with a 7/8 socket. Make sure you grease the seal and shaft so it doesn't run dry.

Thanks Jeff the driver works fine for me but could you make me some irons having problems with them. Tim thanks for the info looks like a big time saver going to give that a go.

This was a good idea -- I pulled that housing on my 2182 to check the o-ring (flat, replacing) but that adds a step. Granted I could pop out the seal w/ a screwstick and tap in the new seal (in my case SKF 6904 for CC/MTD 921-3032).
