Cant get snow thrower belt to hold tension
Put a brand new snow thrower belt on the wideframe 169 and (for the QA42A) can't seem to get the pulley to lock down and hold tension on the belt. I am able to move the pulley up and down by tugging on the belt.

Turn the 'TEE' handled screw to tighten the belt, assuming you have the correct belt.
Download the manual for the thrower. |

Thanks Roland. I do have the manual but it doesn't cover or go over the issue I am experiencing. Upon further review, it seems the T handle/screw has come lose. The nut on the opposite end is no longer holding it tight thus causing play. You need to free up the nuts on the screw and it will tighten up as designed.
Remove the cotter key and apply a little heat to the serrated nut and the nut on the end of the screw. Remove it and clean up the treads on the screw with your wire brush, reassemble w/a dab of never seize and adjust. Then drill and tap a 1/4" hole in the side frame just above the TEE handle when it is adjusted. Screw a nut on a short bolt ling enough to extend past the tee handle and screw into the newly threaded hole, tighten the jam nut against the side frame to secure it. This will keep the handle from working loose. |

And if things get out of hand and yer nuts are rusty, worn or the threaded
rod is bad, Jeff makes left handed treaded adjustment assy, or just the threaded nut/rod See top of page header "parts by jeff" scroll down maybe 4 or 5 pictures Did I mention I hate snow? |

Ah, yes it is it!!!!!!! is disgusting, evil and plum kold.
it makes things break, not only mechanical, but physical when one makes bodily contact with it in a clumsy fashion. Nope, I hate snow. Ice is right there with it, but it is more apparent, snow is sneaky. End of story. |

Took the T off and it's a wonder how it ever worked previously as the nut couldnt be tightened any farther then where it was due to lack of threads on the T. Further examination indicated that the area in question was never threaded previously.
Added some washers to take up the slack but still doesn't fix the issue. Temporary band aid until I can further assess. Cheers! |
