Is this the right carb and air cleaner?
I've got a weird issue with this Cub Cadet 1000 with a K241 motor:
https://imgur.com/a/STFAsMA When the air cleaner housing is installed on the carb, it hits the choke linkage quite a bit (so much that the linkage has worn the paint off the back of the housing). The indent on the air cleaner housing is so deep it goes back pretty far. It seems like I'm either missing some sort of spacer or the carb should be ~3/4" longer. This is *clearly* some sort of replacement carb, not original, so I suspect that is the problem, but open to any other ideas. It certainly looks like a lot of the pictures I've seen of stock carbs so nothing obvious is jumping out as the issue. |

The choke toggle, the link attached to the fan housing, is bent outward. It needs to be straight, maybe even a tad inward. The carburetor looks correct.

Yep, I think that was it. Took a side look at the two choke linkages and they're both bowed out pretty far. I'll straighten them up and hopefully not get any snags. Thanks.

the choke lever on the quiet line tractors point back towards the engine not out towards the air cleaner .

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
