Question about 44A mower deck
I I have a 44A mower deck I think. The two outer spindles are the same but the center spindle is made differently is this something that was usually done? I do not have any experience with this unit yet. Any help would be appreciated thank you

My amateur hunch is that the inner, or the two outer spindles are not original. I believe that there are some innovative ways to adapt the 44a deck so that it will use a less expensive or more common spindle. The trick would be to get them all at the same height (or almost
 This is probably discussed in older posts.

 Per the Parts Manual, all three spindle bearing assemblies are the same.

First, welcome to OCC.
Over the years people have converted the older stamped steel 2 piece housings with "water pump" style bearings, to the later Aluminum housings with cheaper/ replaceable tapered bearings. That might what you have, but just guessing.

I now have learned that one spindle is a later type--cleaned them all up and installed new zerk fittings and hope all goes well.
