Default First Year/ Model Cub Cadet w/23 10:50x12

Hi,
What Model or Year was the first that you could get or have dealer install the 23 10:50x12 rear tires? My Dad bought his 126 Cub Cadet when it was a year old. It had the what I call the town & country tread rear tires. He at some point installed tractor tread rear tires/and maybe wheels too 23 10:50x12. My question is if I remember correctly it had 23 8:50x12 rear tires or could it have had 23 10:50x12 ? I want to find a pair of the original tread tires to put back on it.
Thanks

I believe the Model 169 (circa 1974) was the first one to come standard equipped with the 10.50 X 12.
Your 126 would have come with 8.50 X 12 as standard.

A 106 thru a 147 and a 86 thru a 129 had them also as an option, when equipped with a 48" deck. see picture.

Thanks to both of you. I appreciate that. Dads 126 always had a 42" deck so I guess my memory is correct that it had 23 8:50 X12.

Hi,
I cant get these brochures clear enough to see, but does the 126 brochure actually list the 23 10:50 x 12 rear tires as an option on this brochure?
Thanks!

No.
23x8.50-12 was standard for the 126
6-12 was optional for the 126

Hi bill682, Thanks for the clear picture of that brochure. Does anyone have any proof or documentation of the 126 option of the 23 10:50 x 12 rear tires ever even with a 50" mower deck? Thanks!

OOPS bill682 I missed seeing what you wrote above the enlargement, so there was never a option for the 23 10:50x12 for the 126. Thanks

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
