Default 122 will start but won't take throttle...
I recently rebuild the carburator on my 122 and after reinstalling it and putting in a new battery, it started right up. I only ran it for a short while gave it full throttle a couple of times.

It is now very finicky with the throttle and if you try to give it more throttle it shakes the tractor profusely.

any thoughts???

Could be that the Carb is set too lean.

I set the high-speed at two turns out and the idle at a turn and a half out. It seemed to be to rich to me and I was attempting to lean it out.

You may be correct with your to lean comment. I thought is was to rich because of the gassey exhaust. This is my first time tuning a carb and it isn't as simple as I thought it might be.

Any progress?

One thing that I've done, had a similar situation where it started really hard, wouldn't accellerate off idle, thought I had carb issues.... turned out I had knocked the condensor wire from the coil.

Hooked it back up, runs like a champ!

Probably not your problem, but its something that I will not overlook again!

I would second checking the condenser. The bolt holding mine vibrated lose while blowing snow, only could ideal the engine and anything else would either stale or vibrate horribly.

Could the condensor be bad??

I thought it was the carb as well and rebuilt it but it was pretty clean when I took it appart. Sounds very similar to your situation.

I changed the settings to the carb and that has helped but it still doesn't run great. I think it still needs a good precise adjusting.

I may change out the condensor as well.
