Default 127 grill color?

I have 4 grills here from various 1x7 series tractor, and they are a rainbow of colors thanks to the po's. What was the correct color of these when they rolled off the assembly line? Ive searched quiet a bit, and seen that some are silver and some are black. The one on my 127 now is black.

thanks,

Jeff (teet)

They were cad-plated or something like that from the factory.

So, short of re-plating it, a silver color would be closest to original I presume?

Thanks Matt,

Yeah, I would think so.

When I was plating bolts for that 100 a couple years ago, I thought of trying to do a 1x4/5 grille insert I had laying around, but didn't have the right size/shape container.

If you want a cadium color, search the internet for eastwood products...they sell spray bomb paints to mimic many different coatings such as the cadium mentioned above, raw cast iron, etc. Check them out!

I also have purchased alot of stuff from Caswell Plating, they are minutes from my house and have the same type of stuff, plus actual plating equipment. I just wasnt sure what the actual color was, I have yet to see a plated one...seems they always take a lot of abuse and get replaced with homeade ones or repainted.

I used some aluminum/chorme type engine paint in a spray can. I think it turned out decent.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
