Default another new guy

Hey I'm from upstate New York and I'm getting my first Cub as a christmas present, but I might be able to pick her up tomorrow. Its a Cub 71, with a mower deck, but no fenders. It was running when it was put away, but it has been sitting for a few years, luckly in a garage and not outside. I really want to find a snowblower for it. I have colllected a sleeve hitch brinley plow and cultivator a year ago that I have been saving up for once I got a cub. Well I just wanted to say hi and that I can't wait to start working on my Cub!!!

Welcome cub71 -

Keep your eye on craigslist - it's the time of year when the snowthrower ads are up about 5x over what they have been in the last few months.

I don't know the market in your area, but here in the midwest I've been seeing them go anywhere from $50 to $250. I've seen a few guys listing higher, like $350 or even $400, but there are too many to be had cheaper if you shop. Prices seem to be higher lately along with the increased number of listings. Many sellers waited until they knew people would be looking for them...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
