its aluminum cast. so you think its a 1A ? I'll get the tag off tomorrow and take a good look at it. the gearbox could have been swapped out at some point too.

It's very possible that the gearbox has been swapped. I really don't know enough about these tiller to say whether or not it is a #1 or a #1A. But personally I don't think one is more desirable than the other.
