There are parts manuals out there. I ordered one from BinderBooks.com and am pretty pleased with it - just be sure you've got a 3-ring binder to put the pages in; they come in looseleaf.
I believe the bolts are 3/8" and length depends on which side they go on, as the axle tubes are different thicknesses. I have an aluminum rear end and the same bolt holes for the front supports are broken out. I put a CI rear in my 982 and used all of the Aluminum parts - worked pretty slick. I think mine was from a 125. If you want to use the larger disc brake calipers, you will need to change the axles out. Also, you can't just change the axles - you have to change the entire carrier. I checked that box. Good luck! Can't wait to see some pictures of your 1572.

I just went through replacing the broken bolts in my 2072 rear end. You can see my thread and a picture of the bolts here on the forum. I got help and we welded a washer and nut onto the bolts and they unthreaded easily took maybe 10 minutes tops. Mine were not wallowed out so I did not replace the aluminum case.

These cast iron rear ends are pretty heavy. I would hate to see what shipping would run you. There are tons of them out there. Even if you had to buy a whole tractor in rough shape for a couple hundred bucks to get one you would be better off than shipping one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
