Default Newbie intro

Hi all,

Just joined up after lurking for a while and gathering info. I'm impressed by the info on here and the helpful courteous nature of the members. I've learned a lot but still am undecided on if my purchase will be gear or hydro.:biggrin2.gif:

I've always liked these machines and I'm planning on picking one up in the very near future. I don't think the wife will be thrilled, as I have brought home more than a few "projects", but my birthday is coming up and it will be my present to myself. I grew up with IH on the farm and so it only seems fitting that I'd have a Cub to patrol my yard. Planning on a loader build and possibly a tiller if i can find one.

Long Live Old Iron!

Well its official! Much to my delight and the disapproval of the wife I brought home a Cub Cadet 125 today. Its in decent shape for its age and starts and runs pretty well. The issues are the braking capabilities seem to be sub par and it needs a choke cable. someone swiped the headlights out of it too. The seller had a lot of CC's (20+-) so it might be a parts tractor, but I like it. Now on to the basic maint. and fix ups!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
