Default Cub Cadet 805

I have a cub cadet 805 I bought for cheap beginning of this season. She had a tired old 8hp that I swapped out for a brand new 12.5 we had laying around and I was wondering if someone might could share some information on this model. Searching the web there's not much to learn it almost seems like its rare or undesirable. What years were they produced and in what kind of numbers. Im just curious as the one I have is in good shape and I intend on keeping it around.

So nobody knows anything about this model, seems to be a common theme no matter where I ask.

Biggest thing I am curious about is date of manufacture and that site doesn't supply that. That site is the first place I go for information.

The guy at the mower shop said it was a very short production because of deck issues and bad cut quality, any truth to this? He said because of this he had to special order blades and they cost me a fortune...

The 805 is a Lawn Tractor that had a very short production run. It was only made in '85 & '86. It had a 8 HP B&S engine in it.

Doing some "googling" they seem to be a lawn tractor and not a garden tractor.
I have what is left of a 1720 I bought for the Mag engine.
I'm thinking the 805 is in the same line as it seems to mention models 805 to 1720.
It seems to be like most later throwaway mowers.
I'm sure others will post, just takes a little time.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
