782 Coil
I have a Kohler KT17 series II that's out of a 782, it's now in a John Deere 317 (purchased like this) Model KT17 S, spec 24302
I have a bad coil, and have checked with meter, and also replaced coil with a known good coil, and it is the coil. I have searched several times with not much luck, are there any replacement coils like Bosch (the blue one everyone raves so much about) for a KT17, all I have found is OEM stuff.. I don't really want to run two coils. Thanks, Clint |

I seen that, actually pretty much the only alternative to the OEM which is $100 +(+), I have never dealt with this company, however I have seen the website/name mentioned mostly the points saver which always gets good reviews.
I also have seen the transistor breaker-less system that replaces the points, looks like a cool idea, but points are not that bad, and even though I despise them (much prefer electronic ignition) points seem to last a very long time with very little problems. Roland have you had any dealings with http://www.kirkengines.com ? also what are your thoughts on the transistor breaker-less points slayer ? Thanks Clint |

I will second what Mr.Bedell stated. I have purchased several parts from David Kirk, great quality parts and performed as described, also great instructions with the parts. I will continue to purchase parts from him as needed. Don B. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
