Default New.. with questions...

I have been looking for parts for my Dad. That is what has lead me to this site. I did the "google" searching... looked on amazon for repair books. Search the web most of 4 hrs now again. I just cant find What he needs.
He has a Model 982. He also has a model "48" IH 3 point tiller for the tractor. There is a ujoint out in the PTO shaft on the tiller. There are also some other things he is trying to fix on the tiller/ 3 point system on the tractor. He cant find any parts for the tiller. He cant find even a Repair Manuel for the tiller. I will give all the info below that I have. My Dad is pulling out what little hair he has over this thing. (its no wounder he got a "deal" on it)
What he has told me...
The tractor is a model 982.
The tiller is a 3 point "4ft." model 48 International Harvester Category "O"
Thats about it.
I live 2 hours away from Dad. Just trying to help get things ready for garden season.

First, welcome to our Forum......

You just have to look in the right places. First, click on this link.... Parts

Once that link pops up, type in "982" in the Model Number Box. There will be a list of numbers. Scroll to the third from the bottom. Click on that link and another windows will pop up. Look in the Left Hand Window for "attachments" and click on that to expand that out. Another window will pop up, with all the attachments for the 982. Scroll down close to the bottom and look for "48 Tiller". Click on that and another window will pop up. That will give you the entire Parts Listing for the 48" Tiller.

From there you can obtain parts from: your local CC Dealer, Case-IH Dealer, our Forum Sponsors list at the top of each page, or scroll the dealers in our Parts Sources Section.

If we can be of further assistance, just ask away.

Keller thinking men don't pull thier hair out, they go bald that way. Click on the link, I posted this weeks ago.

As for U-joint, remove it and take it to any good drive shaft repair shop and they will measure it and sell you a new one, There are shops that do nothing but drive shafts, they build them from scratch, they join Chevy ends to Ford ends and there are U-joints that are mixed in sizes to join two different sized couplers, the sky is the limit. This problem is now solved.

Now for other parts on your tiller, as I posted in the other thread the tiller is made by Bush Hog and the CC part numbers match the BH numbers. I've not researched your 48" but you can do that and a quick call to the engineering department of BH or a BH dearler will get you started. The flange bearings I have since found out are a common item and can be found at any good tractor shop. Most all tillers I've learned come from some company in Itally and were imported. You might take it to a John Deere dealer also as the same tiller was sold under the JD and Ford name.

Today I'm going to a local tractor shop to see about getting a new drive shaft to match the 982 as I want to built a rear mounted mower deck eventually. These parts are out there but you have to think out of the box as MTD/CC will not be a part of your solution.

You can view parts manuals and order parts for the Cub Cadet at www.partstree.com. I order my parts for my 1650 from them online. I also converted my hitch to accept category "0" as I had an old Roper T20 with a lot of equipment. I will take pictures of the setup. I used the arms off of the Roper and bolted them to the brinley hitch. The 3rd point is a little tricky, but I have managed that, so if you need some pics, I can send them. I garden 7 acres, and use the CUB for everything. I also designed a spray rig that will attach to the back for spot spraying and boom as well.

This is true but OEM cat 0 parts are NLA period, you may find NOS parts here and there and used parts but if you can show me an outlet for new cat 0 I'd be one happy camper.

BTW I've litteraly spent a couple hundred hours looking everywhere over the last 8-9 months.
