Cub Engine Swaps
I have a IH CC 108 with a ten horse engine in it, I have pulled it, it pulls ok but needs more power. So I found a guy who has 14hp and 16hp engines. Im thinking of getting a 14 hp engine, like one out of a 147. Is it simple to convert the hydro powering engine to a gear drive powering engine. I have not seen a hydro up close. I imagine I can take the hydro parts off the 14hp and bolt on the 3 pin driver onto th 14hp. Can I? Thanks for any help you can give me.

The engine is a direct bolt in if the engine came from an IH Cub Cadet. Make sure you use a #30 carb if you go to a 14 or a 16 horse power engine.
My Son owns a 86 with a K321 in it. He used a wire harness, charging system and starter from Quiet Line Cub Cadet. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
