This is a tough one for me
I love all the custom cubs out there the 4x4s the crawlers the trike the high clear ect the ones with v8s ect ect There is a fine line between butcher work and beauty I think there are thoes who are purests and thoes who have a vision and are able to beautifully complete thet vision. I have 4 cubs 3 will be restored and the 4th will get crazy modifications I love all the opinions and think each of us hav a cub or 3 we wouldn't modify but leave factory original, lol and have a cub or 3 we would love to make into a 4x4 or trike An O is a untouchable for me Jason

I've been restoring cars for a living my whole life. I mean cars that go to The Concours at pebble beach, show quality perfection.
I'd be banned from the business if I took a mustang 65' GT350R (R are the limited production factory race cars prepared by Carroll Shelby's guys), and turned it into a custom. That can be done to a standard mustang, or any other of the millions of mass produced junkboxs out there. Like it's been said, that grill is rare, so what was done to it, is sickening to us...because it's ruined, and rare to begin with. But, who knows, the guy who did it, may have a pile of them, and to him....it's not rare.

Sure would like to see more of your metalwork from work, Eastct...Have you done any Jeep restorations?
On the subject of the ruined grille.. beauty is all in the eye of the beholder.. and hopefully this was done back in the 60's or 70's when old cubs were just old garden tractors and nothin' special. I wouldn't do it today for sure.. but.....how many of us have added headlights to a quiet line or wide frame that weren't original.... and cut into an otherwise pristine stock part.. At least the grille could be used with headlights for a fairly stock looking unit. Now I have seen headlight additions that will scare ya ....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
