I can see that being abused very easily...some peoples' idea of responding to criticism basically involves erasing any trace of disagreement. Also, starting a thread is for the benefit of the whole forum population...if someone got what they wanted out of a thread they started, someone else could still find useful information in there, but not if the originator deletes it.
I belong to about 6 forums for varying topics, and read a few more...not a single one of those allows this. There is probably a good reason why. |

the only place I could see it being good is the for sale and wanted section, then when you sell or find your part deleat the post, keeps the clutter down. I always deleat my adds on craigslist when done with them, but a lot dont, it gets fustating calling about something that was sold 2 weeks ago.

I always leave my threads up until the person who purchased the items gets them and has the opportunity to compare what they received to the pictures I posted. I do edit the thread to show it has been sold so I don't waste other folks time. |

I agree with Matt.... there are some threads that my contain very pertinent information for other followers as reference material, then 2 years down the road *boom* gone.
One of the best attributes of the Internet is its archival purpose.

I have made it possible to delete threads in the "For Sale" and "Wanted" sections, since all threads have an expiration time frame.

Good. Now we can delete our own classifieds ads before the 30 days...when WE are good and ready.

I agree with Conner, I think that it was BS that his ad was deleted when he was still trying to sell his tractor. Ive had this happen many times and it's pretty frustrating when you clearly state "all other items listed in above ad are still for sale". Just my .02.
Mods may want to start looking over ads to make sure we dont have multiple items listed in the ad for sale.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
