If you have multiple Tractor Supply stores near you, check them out for Clearance deals on ATV tires.. Last year I picked up a really nice set in DFW for about $50 a tire...they are ten times the tire that a lawnmower turf tread is.. Usually they only have ONE of each size in stock, but if you go to multiple stores you should be able to find a pair.
TSC normal tire prices are obscene, but on clearance they are a deal. Too bad they never seem to clearance the turf tread tires for our cubs tho. Wally world clearances mower tires this time of year too, but they don't normally stock any 12 inch stuff, only what fits the el cheapo MTD junk. I put some VERY used ATV tires on my Original, just to hold it off the ground.... they were a bear to inflate, had to strap them to get the beads near sealing.. but they seem like they would hold up for qquite a long time still on the O...and they do look kinda "manly".....:biggrin2.gif:

Quietlines and narrow frames, mostly projects but I mow with a 1200 and have a 122 set up for pulls. Wandering the country bringing towers to wind farms everywhere, and bringing yellow stuff home to Texas. Also into flatfender jeeps.
