I just picked up this tractor a few monts back and would like to know more about it. I wanted to know if its a wide frame or narrow, and any other things about it. I am looking for a front blade and want to know what to look for.
I would also like to know if any one knows the valve to head clearence on a kt 17, also the differences between a kt 17 and a mv 18 I have both. any info would be great. Thanks |

The 1712 is pretty much a wide frame, the front lower part of the frame is the same width as 1x9 and QL, most wide frame implements will fit, such as the front blade, but the upper arms on a snowthrower from a WF( such as a QA-42A) will hit where the frame is spread on the top to accept the twin cylinder engine,( upper arms were made for it to work).
Here's the engine manuals. http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4648 http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4649

JR 712
I have the 1811 and 8-10 years ago I bought the molded cushion on ebay for $29 - cut and fitted it in place with the existing stripping on the seat. I have searched hi and low on the web to find it again and no luck, but they show up from time to time. The one I got was probably a second but it worked great. All I can find now is the entire seat for $70 (surplus center) to $90-100 on line for a cub seat. My pan has the original decals on the back and I'd rather keep these as they are. Anyone else have a source for the cushion only for the high back seat? Thanks Carl |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
