Spontaneous Cub Lover in Pa !
Well it's only been a few months and I've been reading/printing all info I can, for which your site gets a lot of credit. Lots of good stuff here. I've always wanted a cool old tractor, wishfully a Farmall Cub or A, but I came across the 147 Hydro and decided that was a good first step into the world of classic tractors. I only have an acre, but mostly I like to tinker with old equipment of any sort. I always say if it has an engine and 2-4 wheels I'm interested. Fully restored a 1963 Vespa scooter and have since started a 1961 Vespa for my girlfriend. The Cubby came from her mom who restores old Farmalls and Ford 8N/9N tractors for fun + profit. Glad to be a part of the site, as I go through my rebuild i will note any key info or tips I pick up along the way. The major task is a wiring harness. I hate to but one since I work at an electronics manufacturer and have any size/amount of wire and connectors laying around. Well that's it for now, the greasy grass covered engine in the basement is calling my name. Thanks again and take care !

I am in PA too, near the Poconos. Congrats on your new Cub. Farmall Cubs are very cool. I got to drive one. A member here, jfinney was kind enough to let me take his for a spin. Good luck with the new machine, once you get into it you find new stuff that needs attention and then the fun begins.

The Teardown continues !
Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm actually 30 minutes north of Pittsburgh, near Slippery Rock. Having all the dirty tractor bits in the basemetn will make for a winter of cleaning, rebuilding. Just got the carb rebuilt, next is the evil flywheel, just can't seem to get it off. Just have to be patient so I don't break anything. Should be a lot of fun ! Can't wait for spring to get her going agian ! Take care.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
