Default 122 PTO clutch

I'm new to the site and to Cub Cadets. I recently bought a 122 and it came with a lot of accessories. I was trying my QA-36 snow blower for the first time and the PTO clutch failed. I took it off the machine and found the spring steel (pressure plate) collapsed and did not return to its original shape so the clutch was not engaged at all. The machine came with all kinds of extra parts. I have 4 extra pressure plates and there are 2 different styles of plates. I installed the heavier style of pressure plate, but I have no way of testing the clutch until it snows again. Is this a common problem? Is there an upgraded pressure plate or clutch set up? Thanks in advance for any help.

Default Photos of clutch

The pictures of the assembled clutch are after I replaced the pressure plate that was damaged. I had a box of spare clutch parts that came with the tractor and it contained the "heavier" spring that is currently installed on the clutch. The smaller spring in my hand is the one that failed. It appears to be metal fatigue. I contacted someone about a new pressure plate and they suggested using 2 of the "heavier" plates. Any opinion or experience with this?
In total I have 2 of the heavier plates and 3 of the smaller plates. What should I do?

if the plates are new that you have. you should be fine with either of them. you dont have to use two heavy ones. and just an fyi. when not using a pto implement you should always have the pto engaged. saves yur wear button and the spring from early failure.

The first two pics are a WF pto. This pto uses two of those flat triangular springs, one on top of the other. The other spring in the bottom two pics is from a NF. Not sure if the spring failed because it was installed on the wrong pto or not. Either way I would make sure that your new pto has the two springs. I'll post a pic of the different pto setups.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
