New From Way Upstate NY With Pics
Hello im new here from way upstate ny like 15min from canada and vt border im 22 but ive been around cubs my whole life but dont know as much as id like so hope to learn alot from here.
Any way my dad has allways been a cub guy and growing up i used to drive our model 71 cub around i love that little cub and still have it. Well up here when scrap went up alot of tractors dissapeard to the scrap yards so there hard to find and seems hard to find at reasonable price. So my dad has 5 cubs and a parts one i managed to get the parts one off him its a 12hp model 122? that an airbase a/c fell on i decided there is too much stuff missing off it and its not worth restoring/building as it be too much money. So yesterday i just got a model 86 cub its in need of some tlc but for the most part all there as im looking to build a pulling tractor. Its model# is k241A and spec# is 46657d. I plann on start fixing/building it this winter this looks like a good one to use as its got the std trans and bigger frame. Id also like to hear some input on the 10-12 hp engines good-bad. Heres some pics of it. At the guys house befor i got it. And here at my house |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
