Question Tire question
I'm considering 26 inch Deestone super lugs for my 1650 instead of the 23's. What issues if any can I expect to run into and do any of you know of any reason I should stick with the 23's. I'll be using the tractor for plowing and landscaping projects mainly with the front blade.

You Asked, I would stay with the 23 x 10.50 x 12s . 3" taller don't sound like much but it is. You're going to work the tractor, work it with the right size tire. you don't have enough gear to run that taller tire.

everybody i talked to said that 26x12x12 tires are a little too wide for plowing. hard to get down in the furrow like a narrow tire will.

carlisle super lugs are taller and wider than the cheaper ones i have 23 10.50x12 and love them.

That's what I was most concerned about. I don't want to run the risk of reducing the tractors pulling power. I guess I'll stay with the 23's. Thanks for the input.

You may want to ask the guys in the puller section, they have been talking about wider rims to get a larger contact patch.

I run taller tires and am VERY happy with them!!



I also have 18x6.50x8 on the front.



This is a GREAT yard machine, handles the blade much better than the 149 I had with stock tires.

The larger front tires really help, when using the blade. It will go over rough terrain much better.

Don't ask me to put a mower deck on it!!

Frankly I had no technical reason for considering the 26's, I just thought they looked better on the tractor, and I still do. But I realize that they represent a gearing change that might hurt the tractors grunt when it's time to pull my plow or a back blade. I've got wheel weights and will load the tires so I think I'll have enough traction. Always open to more data, though.

Hello, Try to find some comparison pics. I thought there were some posts here or MTF with pics. I think those Deestones 26's are closer to Carlisle 23's than 26's.(undersized) Deestones or Duro's i don't remember. Mike

Yeah, I've read on here several times that the Deestones are smaller. Man, thats a tough decision to make.
