Installing a winch
My plow kit on my CC 1054 is the biggest piece of crap made. The lift handle cracked aftr the second snow fall. I acquired a small winch and was looking at fabricating a mount that will fit over the stone guard above the muffler and bolt it to the frame. Dry fitting it with and without the hood, it looks like it will not interfere with the hood. I think if I bolt a bracket under the winch and out a couple of inches out from the winch for the fairlead and attach the hook to the plow just might work and I can get rid of the handle. Anyone have any suggestion, comments on this?

Please understand that I don't know what a CC 1054 is, I only do IH built Cub Cadets.
It may be easier to mount the winch on the blade (or lift brackets) then build a bracket on the tractor to hook the cable to. If your blade has a spring trip, you do not in any way, want to tether the blade itself to the tractor. |

Yosemite Sam
Thanks for the info.
Unfortunately my 1054 is a '09 model cadet, but its a good lil cub so far. I looked at mounting it on the plow assembly itself, but there isn't enough room on the lift arm. The cable will be mounted to the lift arm and not the plow itself.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
