Building a Kohler K-321 for pulling
The machine work will be done on my new pulling motor this week and im not going to run a charging system on it.Does the stator run and control the spark or can i eliminate the stator and voltage regulator. The motor i have now in the puller is a K241 with a few mods to it and its running a Starter/generator at the moment.Im running a full size car battery that i charge before the weekend of pulling.Im very capable of building motor and anything else but when it comes to electrical im out in left field Thanks in advance.

stator and regulator have nothing to do with the ignition. With a good L&G battery you can do allot of starts and running with no issues. just recharge it between events. We also have few customers that wanted to keep starter/gens. they just loosen them and take the belts off for the pull.

Thanks
Thanks thats what i needed to know and the starter/generator that is on the motor now we dont have it set up to charge but i wanted to eliminate the s/g because of weight for one thing and yes we wanted a bigger motor so thats why the 10hp is coming out.

My Son's 86 that he pulls with has the starting, wire harness and charging system out of a Quiet Line Cub Cadet. The system was a bolt in besides finding a place for the recifier/regulator assembly.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
