Ok! Thanks fellas. He will go to $1600 bottom dollar. There is a another cub close by. A 3185 with 48" deck and a four way power plow. 570 hours with a vanguard in it. Not as clean as the 1812. He wants $1400.

The 1812 still needs a rear end gasket and is not ready for purchase yet.

It is a lot of money, but I would rather have the 1812 than the GT2000. Just be patient, the right Cub will come your way.

I also think the 3185 is priced too high. I would think about 700-900 would be a fair price for it.

I agree about the 3185. It is pretty rough truth be told. I am leaning 1812 even at $1600. New engine essentially. New fuel pump. Rebuilt PTO. New belts. New seat. New blades on the deck. New headlights. Paint and decals finish it off. 788 hours on the tractor itself before the rebuild. I don't know, but a 1812 without this stuff around here is usually $500-$750. The engine was NOT bored out. It was within specs for a standard rebuild kit.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
