I've never taken this part apart, BUT, the parts list does not show any pin through the rock shaft and the #2 shaft. Maybe they are bonded together as one piece at the factory?

Pretty sure the pins you need to remove are in the holes that I have indicated with the red arrows.

Personally after doing a few of these, its easier to just cut everything out and find some good used parts to put back in. Once those things start galling by going in circles, after the pins break its nearly impossible to try to get them to come apart. Good luck.

Just wondering if they are this hard to remove then how will he find one that is in decent shape to reuse?

Just cut the frame on one side and it comes out easy.

My 1572 had rusted together also some time in the past. I drilled mine as to accept a needle fitting on my grease gun. Haven't had a problem since.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
