Default Wheel colors

Quick question: Are the wheel rims generally done the same white as the other parts of the tractor?

That is, depending on model year the white can be slightly different colors. Do you generally match the wheels to the model color, or do the wheel rims get white white?

And same question for implements. Is there one white color that all the implements get even if it might not match the model year white?

So conceptually, could have three different whites - the hood, the wheel rims, the implement. Or two.... the hood (with rims same color white) and the implement.

Doing a little planning for my summer project. Thanks.

The hoods are white as designated by year. The rims and implements are IH Creme or "off white". AFAIK, there is only one shade of the Creme, but I believe there were different shades of the white. So, there are really only 2 colors, white and creme.

The white on the Cub Cadets were indeed unique to the year (both hood and wheels) and there were three versions of white used:

IH 901; from start to 11/1967, to serial # 218,009 on the ORIG, 70, 100, 71, 102, 122 &123
IH 902; 11/1967 to 2/1971, serial # 218,010 to 375,938 on 72, 104, 105, 124, 125, 73, 106, 107, 126, 127, 147.
IH 935; 2/1971 to PRESENT serial # 375,939 TO PRESENT 73, 106, 107, 126, 127, 147, 86, 108, 109, 128, 129, 149, 169, 800, 1000, 1200, 1250, 1450, 1650.

The different colors by themselves do not appear that different, but looking at three correctly painted Cub Cadets in a row it is quite evident.

I think the IH implement color would match the year it was produced, but not sure there. So to answer your question, one color on the tractor and potentially another shade on the implement, but may not be.

Hope that helps,

I have never found a concrete answer to this, but can't find a concrete answer on the shade of white that IH used on it's Cub Cadet Implements. I assume it is #901 but don't know for sure.

Thanks guys,

The tractors are CCC tractors after 1971, so the 935 then? (just clarifying there wasnt something else for CCC/MTD produced tractors).

It sounds like consensus is, the 935 for both rims and body panels, then 901 on the implements.

Yep (after 2/71 serial #)! You will have to have the 901 mixed as it is no longer available.

Good luck,

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
