Default 782D hydro compatibility

my 782d once i got it started last weekend after backing it out of garage and letting it warm up it wouldnt move. very slight ticking noise and nothing leave lever in gear every minute or so it would try to move. when it did try to move ticking noise went away finally got it back into garage jacked it up and left in "gear" and after a while all was fine. took tunnel cover off saw rear coupler in not so good of shape. dont think thats the problem but needs to fixed none the less. coupler is kind of sloppy on hydro end. if im gonna fix another driveshaft i would like to do a cv conversion but i need a splinded hydro. i could spend hours trying to figure out what model numbers will cough up these parts but im sure you guys off the top of your heads can rattle off model numbers of the tractors i need to look for. what model numbers have a compatable hydro unit that will bolt to my trans and have a cv style shaft? have read the posts about the conversions and want to go that way

I have pump adapters that will fit your pump along with the adapter for the engine. The issue that may be problem is that the CV shaft will need to be shortened for a 782D. In order to do this a section in the center will need to be removed, then it will need to be welded back together, the weld will then need to be turned down to the 3/4" diameter of the shaft and a sleeve installed over it with the sleeve welded to the shaft to make sure it stays straight. The 1863 shaft just happens to be the correct length to fit a 1772 or 1572.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
