I was wondering, before I break down and order one, if I were to get a Cat 0 3 pt., will I be able to hook my 1A tiller up to it? I realize that I would need a longer belt from the gearbox to the tiller, that isn't a problem.

no. the tiller attaches to the gearbox frame and uses the tractor's lift to raise and lower the tiller. you can attach the 2nd and 3rd pt of the "3 pt" to the tiller gear box frame and then attach a sleeve hitch to that.
there is some usefull information in the tech lib. http://ccmanuals.info/pdf/1A%20Tiller.pdf tiller.JPG tiller2.JPG

I guess redwaycc has never seen the Cat-0 adapter package for the tillers.
I started reverse engineering the kit. See this thread: http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=3472 |

Is that the 3pt from Xtreme Motorworks?

bridgewatertek- No, it is the OEM 3-point (the xtrememotorworks version is a copy) mounted on my 782D. The really nice thing about this is that the gearbox can be installed or removed in a couple of minutes. I still have to find the right length belt and make the linkage that connects the 3-point rockshaft to the tiller to lift it. |

Might I add that this is for my 1450, which didn't come with an OEM Cat 0. What I am thinking is bolt the gearbox directly to the 3pt and use the 3pt to raise and lower the tiller instead of the rockshaft. The main thing I am wondering is if you guru's think it would be plausible?

So my my best bet if I wanted to add the 3pt from Xtreme would be to bolt the tiller frame and gearbox assembly to the 3pt back plate?

You'll actually need to come up with something like I did, or find one of those kits. Notice how far down the gearbox is mounted on mine. There will be nothing to bolt it to if you try to bolt it directly to the plate.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
