Default Another new cub fan

Hi guys. I'm just getting the hang of this site, posting, replying to posts etc. I used it before for information but joined up so that I could pick your brains.
My name is Dale and I live near Johnstown PA. I have a cub 127 with a 48 inch deck that I use to mow about 3+ acres. I went through many different brands of used riding mowers but always wanted a cub because of their reputation. They were hard to come by used and cheap and as a student at the time I never had the money or luck to find one. One day I was mowing a steep hillside with a JD that had the engine mounted in the rear. It started to spin the tires and I hit the clutch but my foot slipped and the thing bucked me off like a horse and rolled down the hill after me. I then decided that I needed a mower with a hydrostatic transmission. A couple years later I found a 127 that someone had painted red for $400. I bought it, repainted it yellow/white, and have been in love with it ever since. I became a podiatrist so I cut more toenails now than grass but I won't give up the old cub because there's just nothing out there as sturdy or dependable.

Welcome to OCC. They always say nothing runs like a Deere. Well I would think that you ran faster than that Deere when it was going towards you. Cubs are the best! Have fun with your cub. I have fun with mine and it don't even run! Ha Ha. Hope to see pics!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
