K321 carb
I took apart the carburetor on my 1450 to put a kit into it. While tearing it down I found the throttle shaft had a little radial play in it, the metering rod is badly pitted and a brass screw broke off in the choke shaft. Are these parts available anywhere, or do I need to suck it up and spring for a new carb from Patton Acres or somewhere? I want to get this one finished, another one followed me home today...but that is another thread. Thanks guys!

If your talking about the long metering rod, yes it is available. The screws are also. Prime Line (O'Reilly's) has the metering rod, and I get the brass screws from McMaster Carr.

Thanks, I'll have to get some numbers and check them out. Jmech, about how much play do you like in the throttle shaft? I've got a little but it's in the thou's. By feel I bet ten or less.

Even with throttle shaft bushings, they aren't super tight. If you take the shaft out, I'd recommend putting a seal on it. I have felt seals for carb shaft here at the shop. I'll see if I can find a source for them that you can get. I don't even buy them directly, I just have several from other carb kits.

Found the choke shaft, available at my local Kohler dealer, 47 090 38-S.
They could not look it up, but here is an excellent site for carb parts: Disregard, I must not be allowed to do that. If I can find the part number, my local can order it, the internal parts are just not showing in their catalogs. They have to look everything up under the green brand though, but its the same parts. Just in case anyone else does what I did.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
