IF, it is a Cub Cadet M-18, then it is a "drop in" fit. Only a small electrical issue to change to make it work.

Con is (to me) that the Mag 18 is an old technology engine. The "V's" are sweeter.
I guess it boils down to preference,,,,,,, and of course $$$ ! Run what you got saves lots of money. |

So if I change the key switch to one out of a 1811 or like a 1861,2,3,4 that will do it or just add a inline relay.

Just changing the ign switch won't do it. You have to change the wiring harness. Just install a relay. It's the easiest/cheapest.

I really did not think the key switch had anything to do with it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
