Newbie from Connecticut
Hi folks, I am the proud owner of a 2005 GT 2544 tractor. It has 126 hrs on her, and other than minor maintenance items and a fluid change and good greasing this machine is in like new condition. The prior owner took pretty good care of her. I have an acre of lawn to maintain and with my aerator and thatcher, I should be able to do that quite easily. I have a 1970 Jacobsen GT Hydro 16 sitting in the garage that has no cutting deck and was my yard mule for years. It was my Dad's and he bought it in the mid '70's for $1,500. I only hope my GT 2544 will give me 40 years of service. I do my own maintenance and repairs on all my equipment so I know I'll perusing the board looking for information. Btw, if anyone wants a Jake, pm me. Mike

Watertown. I know Southbury well. I supplied the concrete for Heritage Village. Small world.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
