First want to say hi, this is my first post on this forum! I've been on other forums, but it never hurts to get more info! I've had Cubs now for the better part of 13-14 years, everything from O's up to 82 series.
I just added another to my shed, a 1772. It's a little rough around the edges, but the important part...it's sound mechanically with no major issues to address. This is how I brought it home, but I do have a good set of side panels, the correct muffler and a nice fender set to put on it. Since it's mechanically sound, I will not be doing much mechanically other than the glow plug upgrade and possibly the starter upgrade, I will be freshening up the sheet metal, adding a cat 0 3 pt, ags and of course wheel weights. All in all, I nice diesel pick up! Of course the ultimate question....leave it yellow and white or paint it red! I do love the look of a red super! |

Nice find on the 1772. Nice lookin' 782D as well. The smokers are addicting....... I'd vote for leaving it yellow and white. The 1772's are harder to find. You'll have to find ya a 1572 and paint it red. Another member on here has a red painted 1572 now known as the "BRS" (big red smoker). Thanks for sharing the pics.

Thanks guys! Alan, the 782D actually came from your neck of the woods! I drove down a few years ago and picked that up in North Carolina! 15 hour round trip to get it. Dropped off a 582 and brought the 782D home.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
