Kohler V twin 18 governer question
I dropped a Kohler v twin 18 engine in my 982 which runs a 50" mower deck. The governer spring is set to the factory settings but sometimes it feels like the governer isnt kicking in to its full potential. Can anyone advise what holes to move the governer spring to to put it to its full potential?

I think you will find that the CH18 isn't what the old Onan you did have was. They aren't full of torque like a horizontal opposed.
That said.... The different holes in the governor aren't for making it give it more fuel. They change the sensitivity. I.E. how much RPM drop is required before it really starts working. I don't suggest changing it. On a tractor, the factory position is the way to go. If you change it, it will make it jerky to drive when you move the hydro, cause the motor will "jump" when the load of the hydro increases. (BTDT) Best thing to do is make sure that the governor is adjusted properly. The service manual tells you how. If you don't have a manual on the CH, it's exactly the same procedure as any other Kohler motor, so use any Kohler manual you want.
