Default why would I have 2 serial numbers
Not very long ago I bought a 169 in really nice shape and a few days ago I was out writting down the serial numbers off of the frame and motor so that if I needed to pick up a part I would have the numbers with me, The one serial mumber was on the left side of the frame where it should be. I am new enough to the forum that I don't know if we are supposed to list the complete serial number so I will leave off the last digit unless you guys say it's okay to list it, any way ,frame #2050048u51246_, Then I happened to look down on the rear of the differential and there was a serial tag painted over and when I cleaned it off it had#2050047u47308- Could someone please give me some idea why its like this or are some of them supposed to be like that. sorry the question is so long, Thanks

That rearend isn't original to the tractor. The frame serial number is the correct one.

Great question.
169 Cubs were made March 1974 to October 1974.
The last 6 digits are the serial number.
51246* shows that Cub was made in May 1974.
47308* shows that Cub was made in June 1973.
