New to form
Just getting started on the farm. I have 2 cubs, a 1863 that I've had for a few years, and a 2284 that I just picked up.
The 1863 I'm pretty familiar with but the 2284 is going to need some work and I don't know much about it yet. It seems to run great but there is something amiss in the hydro I think. If it were a car I'd say it has a bad u-joint because it bumps when I go from rev to forward, like something is loose any info would be a big help. |

My guess is you have the standard loose or broken mounting bolts on the transmission axle housing on the 2284. The Supers are very prone to issues with the mounting because of the frame flex. Ask me how I know. We have the technology to make it better than factory. Get some good pics of the rear end and start a thread in this section CCC/MTD Cub Cadet built Tractors (GT) and we'll get you sorted out

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
