We did put the 782 valve "C" in the 1810 pump and it worked fine. Even though it worked fine in the 1810 pump, do you suggest it may create issues over time?

Yes, for like the third time, THE SPRING IS DIFFERENT. I repeat, you need to set the pressure with a gauge. You really should obtain the correct spring. I don't have a later style pump apart in the shop to look at. I only know that the springs carry different part numbers. But, just like the springs in the valve body of an automatic transmission they are made specifically. A spring, is not a spring. If you use the spring out of the 782, which is probably close.... Way closer than one from the local Ace. You still need to check pressure with a gauge. As I stated before, it would be no different than if you took a valve spring to the local hardware store and tried to "match it up". I'm sure it would "work fine"....... for a while.

Did you check the material the old poppet was made of? If you make one out of metal that is too soft, it will mushroom in the bore. If you make it out of something too hard, it could mushroom the cast where it rides.
