Default 782 possible troubles

Dug into the 782 today.
Got the bad PTO Field Assembly out and noticed some wetness by the head on the right side, (sitting on the tractor) and wondering if you all think it's a head gasket issue?
Or, a seepage issue from the top which I see there's some oil?
What you all think?
Really don't want to take all the tins off if I don't need to, because it's a bear for me to get back on, but.....

Looks like maybe a little of both Todd. Head gasket and lifter galley....

Tractor is down, and looks like it's inevitable. If you got the time and $$ I'd just get the gaskets and do it now. Since you pull the motors with a hoist, you might just take it out. Makes getting the tins off easier.

I was afraid of that, but your right.
Last time I had the engine out it was easy getting the tins removed. That was for the starter fiasco, remember that? Well at least I know how to do it
Guess I'll get at this next, right now the 125's engine is on my table waiting for the oil pan.
Never a dull moment with the old iron wouldn't be bad to have a little break though.

Generally speaking I'm with the "just fix it" camp, but I don't see how having the PTO back on it and fixing it in a few week when another fire is out of the iron is going to really change anything.

I hate having 2 things down at once. J is a pro so that's part of his job. Not mine.

I agree with the others on this one. Pull the grill off then remove the six 3/8" bolts that attach the motor plate to the frame and out it comes.
