Just set it statically with a test light or a multi-meter. Much easier. No extra cost. No problems. No running back and forth.

I have the conversion on my 1450. It starts and runs fine. To me, it is a pricy part at $35 bucks new. Was already on my tractor when I got it. Can just go right in to Advanced, heck they got to be cheap enough. Though in all my IH Cub Cadet experience, I never had points problems. Push plunger wore out once and leaked oil, but that was it.

some people just like to make something simple look complicated so it looks like they know what they are doing.

Lots of truth to this statement. I thought I needed Chevy points too at one time. I thought they would be easier to adjust too. I didn't listen to people who were trying to help me. I learned my lesson.

And the quality of the chevy points that most pullers use have stronger springs. I had a 74 camero with a window dist. Easier to adjust but the quality of the combo points and condenser was iffy even back then. Mike

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
